German needs visible structure

Inspect whether nouns arrive with gender and plural information, whether case-driven article changes are explained, and whether separable verbs and verb-final subordinate clauses appear in sentence context. A high lesson count alone does not reveal how clearly German structure is taught.

Published paths differ

Babbel lists German through B2 with additional topics reaching C1, while Busuu publishes a German path from A1 to C1 and a complete German course from A1 to B2 alongside additional courses. These are curriculum descriptions, not proficiency guarantees.

Use audio as a complement when needed

Pimsleur can add screen-free listening and prompted response. Pair it with a source that makes written German and grammatical patterns accessible if those skills matter.

Choose by the first recurring task

A learner who needs explanations should compare a structured lesson in each candidate. A commuter who will reliably complete audio may weight Pimsleur higher, but should keep a separate literacy path.
