Reject ambiguous Portuguese coverage
Babbel, Busuu and Rosetta Stone currently publish Brazilian Portuguese courses. They may still help a learner who wants Brazil, but they should not be presented as direct Portugal courses.
When a product says only ‘Portuguese’, open the course list, listen to sample speakers and ask support which variety the structured lessons use.
Practice Portuguese as a specialist reference
Practice Portuguese describes its service as strictly European Portuguese, with human-recorded audio and web, iOS and Android access. The verified public price is €15 per month.
The provider states there is no free trial for the full platform. It publishes a 30-day guarantee for monthly sign-ups made on its website; store and other purchase channels should be checked separately.
Use vocabulary tools without mistaking them for a full method
Drops offers a distinct European Portuguese product as well as Brazilian Portuguese. That explicit separation is valuable, but vocabulary practice alone does not provide the same grammar, extended listening or interaction as a complete route.
Choose it as a complement only when the short visual review loop earns a real place in the schedule.
Train connected speech and live use
Portugal-native audio should move from supported phrases toward longer natural turns. Listen once for meaning, inspect the transcript or explanation, replay selectively and retell the message.
A tutor can provide responsive practice, but compare lesson structure, materials, correction style and the exact Portugal goal. Tutor-set prices and marketplace policies vary.
When a mixed-variety plan makes sense
A learner who already speaks Brazilian Portuguese may focus on European listening, vocabulary and pragmatic differences without rebuilding every beginner lesson. A new learner may prefer one production model while gradually hearing both.
State the variety used in each weekly activity so the mix is deliberate rather than accidental.
